Newsletter 42

Dear Hunting Friends

Welcome to my second newsletter for 2015 may the hunting season ahead be a good one for you all.

Firstly some more good news from the Gonarezhou area in Zimbabwe: On the 15th February 2015 Zimbabwean Professional Hunter Luke Swartz guided a Take Aim Safaris client on a trophy elephant bull hunt, Luke’s extensive knowledge of the Gonarezhou hunting areas led him to this really old trophy elephant bull with tusks weighing 86 and 80 pounds a great way to start the season for Luke.

newsletter 42 elephants

We are currently in the prime time hunting season for Gonarezhou elephant bull hunts, I do have quota and dates available please contact me for more information about booking your hunt.

I also have quota on lion, leopard, buffalo, sable, hippo, croc, elephant and plains game plus available dates in the Gonarezhou, Matetsi and Binga.

Zimbabwean PH and Operator Lloyd Yeatman for whom I book hunts and have done so for many years sent me these pictures of buffalos he hunted with his clients late season 2014 in his new concessions in the Southern part of Mozambique adjoined to the Kruger Park and the Gonarezhou National Park, these are old buffalos that fact tells me that the hunting pressure is low in these concessions this means to me that this will be a great place to hunt since no one has hunted there for years.

I booked an elephant hunter client of mine with Lloyd into his Mozambican concessions last year, my client shot an 81 pounder and a 51 pounder on the same hunt. The client in question has hunted a great many elephants and all of Africa’s big game many times over and all over Africa, both this client and Lloyd tell me that this is the best area that either of them have ever hunted both from a picturesque and game numbers point of view. I must say that that comment has got me thinking about selling hunts in Mozambique.

As you may or may not know I until now have only offered South Africa and Zimbabwe with the latter being my main market, I do however have a pricelist available for Mozambique so for anyone that would like to hunt these areas that are surely the best that Mozambique has to offer please contact me for the prices. There are lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo, croc, leopard, sable and plains game on quota in good numbers, I do have the quota numbers if you would like them contact me for more info.

Lloyd owns one of the best Gonarezhou concessions that is normally sold out well in advance, him and I have been doing solid business for years so none of the bad Mozambique Operator problems will be encountered I assure you. In addition Lloyd has just gotten two new concessions in Zimbabwe adjoined to the Save Conservancy where he has buffalo, elephant and plains game on quota that we will sell this year so please contact me about those hunts too. You can use my Gonarezhou pricelist for those hunts including my buffalo special offer.

Here are some buff taken in Mozambique late season 2014, in my mind this is what a buffalo should look like:

Dear Hunting Friends

Happy new year to you all, we hope to see you in the Southern African bush at some time during this year on your hunt with us.

This is a short newsletter to show you the early season Elephant movement in the Gonarezhou area of Zimbabwe.

This is the first Elephant shot this year in the hunting concessions I offer in the Gonarezhou the heaviest tusk weighs 75 pounds. This bull was shot on the 8th January 2015.

Elephant photo 2

On the 10th of January whilst patrolling his hunting area a Zimbabwean PH from the Gonarezhou saw this bull inside the hunting area, sadly there was no hunter with him to shoot this very old bull he did however manage to get this photo before the bull walked off. Is this a 100 + pounder? Looks like it to me with the right tusk clearly touching the ground.

To my knowledge the Trans Frontier Park is the only place in Africa that a hunter has a chance to shoot one of these magnificent elephant bulls that have seemingly disappeared into hunting legends and myths. If you want a chance at a bull like this one then contact me to book your Gonarezhou hunt we are currently in the high season for elephant bull hunts.

Elephant-photo-1

I have got another Leopard hunt permit available in South Africa with Cities export for 2015, this one is in Hoedspruit in the Limpopo Province, this concession has an 11 kilometre shared boundary to the Greater Kruger Park a very good area for Leopard.

I am confident that whoever buys this hunt is going to shoot a big Leopard.

  • 14 Day hunt @ 1.200 USD per day daily rate
  • Leopard trophy fee 6.500 USD
  • Buffalo can be added for the trophy fee of 9.500 USD
  • Bait animals and plains game available as per my 2015 South African pricelist available on my website

Whilst we were in Zimbabwe I hunted this buffalo in the Malipati Safari Area Gonarezhou we then went onto visit all the camps and hunting areas I offer in the Gonarezhou, Matetsi and Binga. I am pleased to say we saw some massive herds of buffalo, many elephant and lots of plains game things are really looking good for the Zimbabwean safari industry for the 2015 hunting season and beyond.

Here is a picture of Fernando and I with my buffalo shot in the Gonarezhou area at last light with my 458 Lott that you can see in the picture.

Those of you that read my newsletters may recall my comment a few months ago that big elephant bulls get shot on late season hunts in the Gonarezhou? This client booked and shot this 80 pounder elephant bull on the 17th November 2014 in the Gonarezhou Safari area. If you are after a bull like this then contact me for early season 2015 hunts, big elephants will be shot don’t miss out.

Newsletter 39

Dear Hunting Friends

Welcome to the 39th edition of Take Aim Safaris newsletter.

This has been a fantastic year so far for clients that have booked and hunted with Take Aim Safaris in our concessions in South Africa and Zimbabwe, I feel that the pictures speak for themselves both on this newsletter and previous editions. More hunts to come for 2014 include a Zimbabwean lion hunt and more buffalo hunts plus elephant and plains game.

I am happy to announce that in addition to the Gonarezhou, Matetsi, Binga and Nyakasanga concessions in Zimbabwe that I currently offer I have added Zimbabwe’s biggest hunting concession to the list of concession areas I offer, this is the Dande area. I will from 2015 onwards be offering Dande North, East and South that have numerous camps and many different hunting options available including 14 leopards on quota per annum plus lions and all other big game species plus sable are found in big numbers and are on quota, the Dande areas I now offer are 1.400.000 acres or 640.000 hectares in extent. Below this newsletter I have attached more information (extracted from my website) about the Dande and camp pictures. With TAS offering Nyakasanga and now the Dande you can be sure that these are the best concessions that the Zambezi Valley has to offer.  Prices to hunt the Dande are on my website please contact me for more information and for bookings.

Since my last newsletter it has been a busy period where we have been conducting numerous hunts and concluding concession pricing and agreements for 2015 and beyond. Hunters, Agents, PH’s please contact me for your 2015 bookings.

On recent hunts in the Lowveld of Zimbabwe TAS clients got these very good trophies:

Pics-1-blurred

Also on recent hunts we got these very good trophies for clients including a 42 inch buffalo and a 55 pounder elephant and two other very good elephant bulls in Matetsi and Binga both in the 40 pound range. Matetsi and Binga are in the west of Zimbabwe near Victoria Falls, excellent concessions.

Here is the information about Dande and camp pictures.

Dande Area Information

Dande Is without doubt amongst the best dangerous game hunting areas in Zimbabwe.

Dande is the largest hunting concession in Zimbabwe @ 1.400.000 acres or 640.000 hectares.

Dande offers more hunting and tracking options to hunters than any other Zimbabwean hunting concession due mainly to the size of the concession and the great numbers of animals that live in the Dande.

There are multiple camps in the area that allow hunters to hunt the entire concession. The annual hunting quota is big due to the size of the area.

These facts/factors are reflected in the cost of hunting the Dande, this is a true Hemmingway style safari.

Hunting the Dande

Dande offers a 100% success rate on elephant bulls and has had the highest Zambezi Valley pound/lbs tusk average for the last 3 years in a row. There are numerous resident elephant bulls in Dande, with an added bonus being the 30 + kilometer boundary that the concession shares with Mozambique which is well worth checking as there are often big elephant bulls coming in from Mozambique.

(NOTE from Carl: Gonarezhou remains my best offered concession for hunting trophy elephant bulls)

Dande is a classic tracking/walk and stalk hunting area that gives you the hunter a very good overall elephant hunting experience. If its tuskless elephant that you are after Dande has hundreds of tuskless elephant and if hunted hard, you will experience numerous approaches and have no problem finding your tuskless elephant or bull elephant for that matter.

Buffalo hunts in the Dande concessions currently offer a near 100% success rate on hard boss buffalo bulls. A nice thing about hunting Dande is that there are large numbers of resident buffalo in the area- both herds and Dagga boy groups which means you will track and see buff every day before shooting your buffalo.

There are far too many lions in the Dande area and with a very conservative lion quota it goes without saying that we have been very successful on lion and lioness, and will continue to do so.

The Valley leopards average out at around the 130lbs mark and are very numerous in Dande, in the last 10 years there has only been two failed leopard hunts and considering that this concession gets 14 leopard tags a year Dande has had plenty of happy leopard hunters!

Lion and Leopard hunting in Dande South is superb, being partly National Parks Safari Area and partly campfire area, which allows hunting after dark the success rate on lion and leopard is close to 100%. The main method of hunting cats is by baits and blinds. This is also one of the few areas left in Africa where lioness can be hunted, this is because of the over population of lion in the area which has necessitated lioness being put on quota as a management tool.

There is a tented camp on the Zambezi river which is used for hippo and crocodile hunting. At this camp you can also catch tiger fish and bream and/or game view from the stunning Mapata Gorge.

Newsletter 37

Dear Hunting Friends

I hope this newsletter finds you well.

Since my 36th newsletter sent out in July we have had some really good hunts and managed to harvest these very good trophies for our clients from around the world. We are looking forward to the African summer that gives us those extra few hours of daylight to hunt in and promotes the movement of the animals out of the National Parks into our adjoined concessions in search of water and the green foods available in the hunting areas, of course the cats follow the animal movement so we should finish strong this year.

The buffalo movement from the Kruger Park and the Gonarezhou National Park into our Southern Lowveld of Zimbabwe hunting area is the best movement we have seen in years, lots of buffalo around so if you’re planning a buffalo hunt this is a perfect time. I also have lion, leopard, elephant, hippo, croc and sable left on quota for 2014.

For all of you that want to hunt trophy elephant bulls, please contact me now as indications are that yearend elephant hunting in the Gonarezhou area will be fantastic. Also remember to book now for early season/maize season elephant bull hunts for 2015.

These four different buffalo were hunted in August in the Gonarezhou area by clients from Hungary and France:

newsletter-37-buffalo-3 newsletter-37-buffalo-2 newsletter-37-buffalo-1 newsletter-37-buffalo-4

The Binga area is fantastic for trophy croc and big hippo bulls, also 35 pounder elephants and the occasional buffalo get shot there. We have a 100% success rate on hippo/croc in Binga for the last 3 years.

Also please look out for my upcoming newsletters, I have 5 big game hunts during July and 6 big game hunts in August including 2 lion hunts, sable, buffalo and elephant to mention but a few. Watch this space.

To all our valued hunter clients, PH’s, Outfitters and Agents please contact me for all your big game hunts in Zimbabwe and South Africa. I have dates and quota available in top areas. Zimbabwean PH’s Stephen Meyer and Talmage Alexander have again as they always do delivered these top results to Take Aim Safaris clients. I have openings available for hunts with Stephen and Talmage for this year and next year including what I would say is one of the best trophy elephant bull permits I have ever sold: I have 1 trophy elephant bull hunt available with these PH’s for November 2014 in the Chipinda Pools area of Gonarezhou (just outside the Gonarezhou Park), quotas are so low in this area that these hunts are hard to get. These boys have a current average of over 70 lbs per tusk in this area. Be quick or this one will be sold.

2015 quota on trophy elephant bulls in Gonas is available and will sell fast, for those of you that have seen my 2014 season newsletters you know what to expect from your own hunt.

These American clients that hunted in Binga on Lake Kariba managed to get these 2 fantastic hippo bulls and this 4.4 meter croc during their hunt in June.

There is no reason not to book a hunt in Zimbabwe or South Africa, I have top areas, top PH’s and quota available and always will have. Agents, PH’s and Outfitters please add my hunts to your websites, brochures and pricelists. I have loads of references from clients, Agents, Outfitters and Ph’s.

A special note of thanks to Robbie Guthrie who guided the lion hunt featured in my last newsletter, it is an honour for me to be associated with Robbie and Ph’s like him. The good ones are excellent.

I want to wish my good friend and TAS client Matt all the best of luck on his male lion/sable and hippo hunt in July. When Matt completes his big 5 as he intends to do he will be my first client to start and finish his big 5 with TAS, a big party will be had on that day I have no doubt.

Matt already has his leopard (a monster that was guided by Robbie Guthrie) and his buffalo; in fact he has two buffalo, one guided by Robbie and one guided by legendary Zimbabwean PH Lloyd Yeatman. Seasoned PH and personal friend of mine Philip Oosthuizen will be guiding Matt on his lion hunt in the Hoedspruit area of South Africa.

Also want to wish all the best of luck to Brian from the USA who will be hunting a lion with Stephen Meyer from Zimbabwe in July 2014.

Thanks for taking the time to read my newsletter and for passing it onto your hunting friends and industry colleagues.

Dear hunting friends.

Please take a moment to page through our new website www.takeaimsafaris.com.

As the hunting season marches on here in Southern Africa we have again delivered fantastic results to our clients and in so doing continuing our 100% success rate for 2014 on trophy elephant bulls. The quality of elephant bulls coming out of our Gonarezhou concessions in the Southern Lowveld of Zimbabwe cannot to my knowledge be matched anywhere in Africa. For those of you that don’t know: The Gonarezhou concessions are well placed between the Kruger National Park, the Mozambique National Park and the Gonarezhou National Park these big game hunting areas are unspoilt and un-fenced as they have always been.

Take a look at these 3 beautiful trophy elephant bulls that were all shot since my last newsletter.

1.       This magnificent 81 pounder was shot by a German client on the confluence of the 3 national parks.

2.       The client that shot the 81 pounder also shot this 55 pounder on the same hunt.

3.       This 64 pounder was shot by a South African client.

I do have big game quota available for the 2014 season, any clients or PH’s or Agents looking for a big game hunt in Zimbabwe or South Africa please contact me for more information. To all our South African clients we look forward to seeing you at Huntex 2014.
